Here we are.  Another year, wasted.  At least that's what my mother tells me   
Always slacking off,  Being foolish,  Mellowing out.   
I never work  
Hard enough,  Fast enough,  or Enough in general.   
She tells me this  
 
Because she loves me   
She wants me to do well.   
To succeed  Because she didn't.   
We don't have money,  so she says.   
"Work harder for the future"  So that your life will be easy.   
How can I say no to that?   
Yet, I don't want to.

I never expected this.   
Now, I can't hide my surprise anymore.  
 
I can no longer hold in my disappointment.  
 
You know, maybe it was just a stupid fantasy. A silly dream concocted from the romantic thoughts of a silly teenage girl, but I thought that maybe I mattered to him. That maybe there was something more between us than just the temporary bonds of a highschool friendship. I had thought that maybe he'd remember me year after year. That he would care about how I was feeling, what I was doing, and whether I missed him or not.

Family  Awkward, dysfunctional, and insane  They drive me crazy.  They're too loud, too soft, too needy,  Sometimes it's just too much.   
I live and strive to meet expectations  And get no reward when I do.  Illogical fear of being isolated  Wanting to belong  Needing to belong  I bend backwards to stay on their good side.
